Enrique A. Serrano, M.D.

Dr. Serrano was born and raised in Puerto Rico but chose the University
of Florida in Gainesville to further his education after high school.
He graduated from UF with a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and returned
to Puerto Rico to attend Medical School at the University of Puerto
Rico. He received his MD in 1998 and, as he had enrolled in the Navy,
served his Internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda,
Maryland. Dr. Serrano served for four years as a general practitioner
in the Navy and he was deployed multiple times to the Pacific during
that time. He was then deployed to Iraq for ten months serving as the
only physician on a fast combat support ship assigned to the Lincoln
Battle Group in the Persian Gulf as a part of Operations Enduring and
Iraqi Freedom. After the Navy, he completed a residency in Neurology
at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia followed by subspecialty
training in Neurophysiology with further emphasis in Epilepsy treatment,
management and epilepsy surgery evaluations. In September of 2007, Dr.
Serrano and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Garcia, moved their family to Lafayette
and joined the medical staff of Southeast Neuroscience Center. He holds
medical licenses in Georgia and Louisiana.
